March 2: Mark Grieco

Mark Grieco, head cook of Four Men and A Pig, has been competing in barbecue contests since 2001. In 14 years, he has won 32 Grand Championships and 24 Reserve Grand Championships. Among those were GCs at the American Royal Invitational in 2003 and at the 2008 American Royal Open. In 2008, Four Men and A Pig also took third place at the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational. He even has his own barbecue sauce, in both an original and spicy variety.

To kick off our Pitmaster Thursdays series, Mark demonstrated how to cook pizza on a Big Green Egg.

March 9: Loren Hill

Loren Hill and his wife, Cheryl, make up The Smoking Hills, a competition barbecue team from Overland Park, KS. Since joining the competition circuit in 2007, The Smoking Hills have won 16 barbecue championships, including the prestigious American Royal Invitational in 2015. In 2015, they were also named overall World Food Champion at the World Food Championships.

Loren came out and showed us how to cook up some chicken wings on his Gateway Drum Smokers.

March 16: Donny Teel

Donny Teel of Buffalo's BBQ will be joining us all the way from Sperry, Oklahoma. His accolades are numerous, with more than 40 Grand Championships in 8 states, not to mention a Grand Champion win at the Jack Daniels BBQ World Championship, and two Grand Champion, Reserve Grand Champion wins at the American Royal. When he's not traveling to compete, he's teaching classes and opening his trailer as a restaurant in his hometown.

Donny shared his expertise while grilling up pork tenderloins on a Weber Grill, which he then turned into some very tasty tacos. Check out his recipe for an expertly cooked pork tenderloin here, and find the full event recap here.


March 23: Stephanie Wilson

Stephanie Wilson has been competing in Kansas City Barbeque Society contests as a member of TheSlabs.com since 1996, along with her sister, Val Wilson, and their pal, Kyle Laval. They've won more than twenty Grand Championships and have cooked twice at the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational, winning first place in chicken in 2001. Stephanie and her team have also launched their own line of rubs and sauces.


March 30: Traeger Grills

Our friends from Traeger Grills will be here to do a demo of their new Timberline Pellet Grill. This new addition to their lineup features Wi-Fi control that can be programmed with custom cook cycles and is easily controlled from a smartphone or tablet. The three stainless steel racks maximize cooking surface area, while a new barrel shape creates convection for even heat throughout.
